Extension/refurbishment of 1930’ Bungalow, Forest Hall, Newcastle upon Tyne.
Mr & Mrs Gray
Base were commissioned to design and gain Planning and Building Regulations approval for the refurbishment and extension works to this large 1930’s style semi-detached Bungalow in Forest Hall.
Base worked closely with the clients through design meetings, to update and enlarge the tired 1930’s style Bungalow to give it a new contemporary kitchen/Dining and sitting area to the rear with side extension to give new Garage, Utility to the ground floor and two new Bedrooms and Shower Room to the roof space; using well-proportioned dormers to provide a better outlook and keep the symmetry of the front elevation.
The lounge and existing Bathroom area to the ground floor were extended to the rear to provide a more spacious and well-proportioned space with a new gently sloping slate roof that ties in with the existing slate roof. The existing roof was replaced in its entirety as it was beyond repair and with the clever use of steel and carefully sized timbers we managed to gain good headroom and provide fantastic useable roof space.
Base working closely and listening to the client’s needs achieved a pleasing environment with clean new look whilst also retaining the original character and proportions expected of a large 1930’s style house. Refurbished original 1930’s doors were sourced together with ensuring the existing moulded high skirting’s and architraves were matched from original profiles to tie new and old together seamlessly.
The works were started in the summer of 2017 and completed by that Christmas.
Another successful job and happy customer for Base.
